There's a storm you're starting now Something about the beach party had been exciting, the music, the atmosphere, all of it, really. Sitting in the sand inside of the main cave that had become sort of like a home for him, Alec would lean against the cold stone wall. His stomach was a bit queasy, though it was nothing major as the others that he had heard about. Besides, he had to stay strong for everyone. This was the role that he had had his whole life, caring and helping others. Why should this island be any different.
Sitting and thinking with his back-pack stuffed full of junk food like things as well as cereal bars, he would begin to thing of his friend that had died on the plane. Nick was the reason that he had been dragged into this mess, moral support, he had said. And of course, Alexander being the kind man that he was, had obliged. But it was no time to point the fingers here. The only thing that stopped him from eating it within the first few days of the crash was the simple fact that there was no telling how long he would or would not be here. And, well, if monkeys, fish and coconuts was the main source of nutrition here, he ought to save it for later. Besides, maybe the sweet human food could come in handy for setting traps.
Meanwhile, he supposed it was time to try and go out to harvest a few things. However, he decided to sit there just a few moments longer for the fact there was really nothing else to do.

Abigail Lorraine Being a 6 year old, her emotions never stayed the same from one moment to the next. She was still coming into knowing how she feels. Today she was happy. Jonesy was trailing behind her as she walked around the caves. She liked it in here, it reminded her of one of her favorite movies, but she could never remember the name. Just that there was a pirate in it.
She was pretending she was a pirate looking for buried treasure. She had a large leaf she had found next to a banana tree and was using it as a map."Okay first mate Jonesy the treasure is this way, but we have to be careful so we don't step in bootie traps." She tiptoed through the caves acting like she would be trapped any second.
As she came around a bend she saw someone sitting there. "Look Jonesy! A native I wonder if he is friendly?" Abigail was always less shy when she was playing. She tiptoed to the man. Careful to not step on any trap. "Do you know where the hidden treasure is?" She asked him with her pirate voice. She was still too young to realize some adults did not like to play childish games, so she assumed everyone loved to play games. ♦. ♦

There's a storm you're starting now Hearing a small happy little voice, Alec would turn to see a pretty little girl with a stuffe animal dragging along with her. "Do you know where the hidden treasure is," she asked him.
With a smile and a short, humorous laugh, Alec would respond in his best pirate voice to match hers. "Well, I've been on the search for that there treasure forever, little missy. 'Course I know where it is!" Seeing the banana leaf in her hand, he would smile ever so slightly yet again. "Is that your map 'er," he asked, reaching for the leaf. "Maybe if we work together, we can find it. Whadaya say, split it fifty, fifty?"
The site of the small enthusiastic girl filled the man with a sudden joy. Such games like these with pirates and hidden treasure is what he used to play back home with his foster siblings, among helping them do their work. Then again, the simple fact that a child had survived the crash had surprised him in general, but anything was possible. After all, he was here, wasn't he?

Abigail Lorraine Abigail was so excited someone was going to play with her. At the mention of her map she gladly handed it to him. "Yes it is my treasure map." She let out a giggle of excitement. He had a much better pirate voice then she did. She wondered if he was a real pirate before the crash.
"I love to share!" She told him "Do you know what is in the treasure?" She asked him very curiously. "Me and Jonesy hope that it is full of chocolate and jelly beans." She held up Jonesy to show him her monkey. "My name is Captain Abigail and this is my First Mate Jonesy." She introduced herself and her monkey.
This was the most fun Abigail had since the plane crashed and she lost her mommy and daddy. She liked this man so far. He seemed nice and he didn't have a scary voice. She didn't think her parents would be mad for her talking to a stranger of he was nice to her. ♦. ♦

There's a storm you're starting now Alec nodded his head and took the leaf from the girl, pretending to study it. Jonesy? Oh, the stuffed animal. Of course. "Pleasure to meet, you Capin'," he said. "I'm Sailing Master Alec." Getting up off of the ground, he would walk over to her, holding the leaf and then squatting down next to her. At the mention of the candy, Alec simply knew that this was perfect. Jelly beans and chocolate were in his backpack. Not all that many of them, but they were in there.
Pointing to the leaf where she could see up towards the part of the stem, he would speak once more. "Ah, here it is. X marks the spot. Looks like over yonder towards the far side of this here cave." But in oder to provide the treasure that the girl wanted... he would have to get his bag first. "Tell yeh what, Capin. I'll grab me supplies while you and Jonsey 'er start headin' that way? I promise it'll take me just a second."

Abigail Lorraine Abigail stared earnestly at Alec as he looked over the map and gave a small squeal as he "decoded" the map. She was jumping up and down with excitement. She composed herself and gave him a small salute, "Okay, on your way." she said as serious as she could through her big grin. Supplies! He had to be a real pirate! Who else would have treasure hunting supplies with them. She started to skip off in the direction he told her the treasure was in.
As she skipped she whispered to Jonesy, "Can you believe it, we have just met a real pirate! And he knows where some treasure is. This is the greatest pirate game ever!" She gave Jonesy a big hug as she quietly skipped. Then she quicky remembered she was a pirate and they didn't skip so she went back to walking, as she waited for Alec to catch up. ♦. ♦

There's a storm you're starting now The man saluted Abigail back as he stood. "Aye, aye Capin'," Alec said, still in his pirate voice as he gave her a slight pat on the head and walked back over to his original spot, the leaf still in his hand. Running a hand through his hair, letting out a big breath, and giving a chuckle he would think to himself: What have I gotten myself into? Oh well, to late to turn back now. The little on obviously could not find her parents, and they her. Even if they were still alive, that was.
Walking to his previous spot in the cave, Alec bent down and picked up his back-pack and slung it over his shoulder in one fluid movement before jogging to catch up with Abigail. "Just a bit further, Abigail." Walking along aside of her, Alec would stop at the furthest wall of the cave, getting on his knees. "So, the plan 'er would to be to dig with our hands until we find that there treasure. According to this here trusty map, it's not all that far down."

Abigail Lorraine Giving him a big smile Abigail continued to walk with Alec. She was getting giddy with excitement. She had never been this far back in the caves. She was a little scared of the dark but she didn't feel scared with Alec with her. He made her feel safe. As they walked she eyed his bag. She was really curious as to what was in it. She knew better then to ask, she figured she would find out if he felt he needed it to find the treasure.
When they got to the spot where Alec said the treasure was she knelt to her knees. Putting Jonesy on the ground carefully so that he wouldn't get too much dirt on him and then asked Alec, "Like this?" She began moving the dirt to a small pile next to her. One small handful after another. Her small hands working diligently to find the treasure. Her mind was spinning. She started humming the only pirate tune she knew. The one from The Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney Land.
She couldn't wait for when she found her parents and was able to tell them about this amazing adventure she was going on. ♦. ♦

There's a storm you're starting now" "Aye, perfect," Alec would respond. Turning to his back pack momentarily, he would nonchalantly pull out the candy that she had been wishing for. If he could do one act and make the child happy, he would. After all, she didn't deserve to have her childhood ruined due to something that she had no power over.
Starting to dig up the sand just right beside of her, he would be sure to try and not get the sand on his clothes. Sure, they were already dirty enough and perhaps he would wash them in the lagoon later, but that wasn't the point. Smiling as he recognized the tune that she was humming, he would have just enough time to place the candy in his hole.
"Look Abigail! I think I found the treasure," he would say.

Abigail Lorraine Abigail gleamed up at him as she continued digging. She was having so much fun. She knew it was all pretend, even though she thought he was a real pirate, it was the best time she has had on the island so far. She kept her pace up digging, maybe she would find something really cool. That would make it so much better.
When Alex said he had found something she let out a small squeal of excitement. She quickly looked to where he was digging. She clapped her hands to show her excitement. Then remembered that they were pirates. "Arrrggghhh, what have we found?" she said in her most serious pirate voice, which was hard because she was grinning from ear to ear.

There's a storm you're starting now" Alec couldn't help but let out a small chuckle before picking up the candy and handing it out to her. "Well, Capin'," the man would say, "looks like the people who buried this 'er treasure had the same idea as you did, lil' Miss." Placing the candy in her hands, Alec would wait for her reaction, hoping that it was a good one.
He knew that the smaller children were the easiest to play with, in a matter of their games and perhaps giving the girl the candy would be a symbol of hope.
Sorry it's so short, Trina. I'll try and make up for it on the next reply.
