When My Time Comes Forget The Wrong That I've Done Stranded. No exception. That is what they were. What they are. What they all were, really. Sitting on the sand floor, her hot skin pressed against the cool stone wall of the cave, Evangaline would hold her little brother, Nicholas, in her arms. His skin was hot, more so than usual when he was out in the sun. His breathing was harsh, his blonde hair much like their fathers sticking to his forehead and neck. Her strawberry blonde hair was braided to the side, in hopes of helping with the heat. "Nicholas," she said, her voice soft. Many of the people in the caves seemed to be in her brother's condition. Evie could admit to having the occasional hot flash or headache, but nothing compared to the others, so it seemed. "Nick," she said, speaking once more. "Come on, get up." Reaching into the suitcase that she had managed to salvage, Evie pulled out a bottle of water as her brother sat up with a groan. "Evie," he said, his child's voice barely a whisper, "Evie... it hurts." "I know, baby, I know," she said, brushing his hair out of his eyes. Handing him the bottle of water, Evangaline would make sure that his lips didn't touch the opening. Whatever sickness that he had, that they all had, she did not want to catch it for herself. Perhaps it was selfish, and Evie could not stand to see her brother like this, to lose yet another member of her family, but what had to be done had to be done. TAG: @user WORDS: ### NOTES: words

It had been days since Jamie had ventured to this part of the island, and she had little intention of going anywhere near the caves until this flu, or whatever the heck it was, had passed. People were starting to look really terrible, and she wanted no part in that. Still, something compelled her to return. Compassion, perhaps? She had to know if they were getting better. First, because she needed to know if she could come back safely. Second, because she cared whether the others survived. It became strikingly clear as Jamie stepped inside the cave that people were not getting better. And perhaps it was her imagination, but it seemed to Jamie that they were getting worse. Her stomach did flips as she walked along one side, meeting the eyes of each person that was lying on the ground - well, at least those who had their eyes open. Her face was expressionless, except for the slight furrow of her brow. She appeared calculating, but inside she felt the first prickling of a fresh terror constricting her heart. Would this spread? Jamie stopped about halfway back into the cave and leaned her back against the cool stone wall, pressing her palms back against it, and squeezed her eyes shut. There was no use getting worked up about something that might just pass naturally. Right, calm down Jamie. She opened her eyes and her gaze landed on a girl with a thick blond braid, tending to a male who seemed to have the illness. Compelled forward, Jamie strode over to the pair quietly and eyed the male for a moment. Then, softly, she spoke up, looking the girl in the eyes. "Can I help?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Everything seemed to echo in this place, and she couldn't bring herself to speak at a normal volume. She felt it would disturb the others. Her gaze flickered down to the young man who was lying on the ground. He seemed to be barely coherent. The way the girl cared for him, Jamie guessed they had a history. She doubted they'd met after the crash. WORDS: 357 TAGS: #Jamie NOTES: -waves-

When My Time Comes Forget The Wrong That I've Done Once Nicholas was done with the water, Evangaline proceeded to take the bottle back from the boy and close it back up, sticking it into the suitcase once more. Catching a glimpse of her laptop she thought momentarily about perhaps taking it out and turning it on for the first time since the crash, just to see a picture of her family all together again. Nonetheless she came to her senses in a few seconds before slamming the suitcase shut again and glancing at her younger brother once more. Looking up to see a girl looking her straight in the eye, Evie tried to find the words to say. "I-i'm not sure. It's, he's, my brother and he's just.. her's so sick. I don't know what's wrong with him. You wouldn't happen to show any symptoms yourself, would you?" Perhaps the question was a bit personal or what-not but Evangaline, through taking care of her brother and observing the others around her, came to the conclusion that someone needed to take count of who was well and who was.. well, sick. Maybe if they could keep count she could find someone with medical training her or they could come up with something there selves. Heck, maybe they would all get lucky and this would pass over. However, the girl doubted the better part of her predictions. After all, they were stranded here. The monkeys that they had eaten -at least she was pretty sure that's what it was- had made them violently ill and they were slowly running out of supplies while wearing the same clothes day in and day out. How could this get any worse? TAG: @user WORDS: ### NOTES: words

Jamie nodded as the girl explained that he was her brother. She looked down at the boy once more, hearing a tone of panic in her new acquaintance's voice. It was very clear that the girl was scared for her brother. How could anyone blame her? This was family. Jamie met the girl's eyes again when she asked if Jamie was showing symptoms. She quickly shook her head, to put her at ease. "No...not yet."She swallowed, realizing how gloomy that sounded. Not yet? As in, well no but you know we'll all end up diseased eventually? Jamie decided not to dwell on that. Besides, they could all wake up healthy one of these days and it will only be a memory. Except for the ones who've died... Jamie knelt beside the boy and looked at his face, trying to decide whether this looked like anything she'd seen before the crash. He was clearly very sick. Knock-you-out sick. It appeared he was somewhat coherent, and Jamie decided that was a good sign. At least he was not unconscious. Looking back up at his sister, Jamie gave a half smile. "I'm Jamie, by the way." She looked back at the boy, wondering how aware he was of his surroundings. WORDS: 209 TAGS: #Jamie NOTES: so short! but I wanted to get you a reply ^_^

When My Time Comes Forget The Wrong That I've Done "Not yet," the girl replied. Evie nodded her head. That was a good way of putting it. A realistic way of putting it. Out here on this island, anything was possible and could happen. Heck, they could all drop dead in three seconds. Okay, enough of that train of thought. "Jamie," she said with a small smirk. "Fun name. I'm Evie, and this is Nick." The water seemed to help her brother, thankfully, and the boy managed to sit up and have the strength to crawl over and put his head in his sister's lap. "Jamie is a cool name," he said, his voice now a bit stronger as well. Perhaps his rest had helped. TAG: @flin NOTES: No worries ^.^ So is mine and I don't really mind waiting.
