Well now he had gone and done it, hadn't he? He could feel her pulling back due to the serious nature of his words. It was then when he realized she had been joking. His bad. He glanced over at her, keeping an awkward balance atop the water as his brow arched up. The look on her face, carried away or not, said all he needed to know. The rape comment from him had killed the mood and now he needed to fix it.
"You're fine," he said simply at first, turning back towards the clouds. "I mean... I guess when we run clothes we will think of something. God forbid we flash the monkeys, eh?"
Then he would playfully splash out at her. He would lose balance and simply roll over on his belly, going under the water for a moment before emerging, smoothing his dark hair back out of his face. He thought about the last remaining bottles in his bag. There had been dozens of plastic bottles liqueurs in the cart that had bounced violently about. Sodas and other things too. Lots had been busted open but Logan had taken what he could, leaving some behind.
"Listen," he started slowly, actually thinking on his words before the next few would come from his mouth, "I know you don't know me all that well.. but I don't think you should... well those clothes are wet. If you get sick there aren't doctors anymore. I have a spare bout of clothes in my bag. I'm getting out before I freeze my important bits off and you can borrow my spares until your clothes dry."
He thought about building a fire and how they would do that. Airplanes made a point not to let things that could potentially explode onto the airplanes and he was no boy scout. "You wouldn't happen to know how to build a fire,.. would you?"

◄ HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? [HASH]Taya She did sense Logan's sudden mood shift, much like her own. He seemed regretful, though he of course had no reason to be. She was just...ultra sensitive right now. He was looking at her with a much regretful expression, so now she felt bad for making him feel bad. Oops, a cycle had formed.
She perked up a bit once more when he brought the lightness of the mood they'd had. He splashed water at her, and feigning angry annoyance, she splashed him right back, but she was smiling in case he didn't pick up on her good-humored cues. "Flash the monkeys," she actually never heard of that one, but it was funny.
"I'm pretty serious, though. Maybe it won't be like the movies. We could have to become a tribe of naked people," she said once he reappeared from underwater, her voice inflections matching her lighthearted yet serious feelings on the subject. She took a brief moment of her own to flip her head back to wet her long hair, gathering it together above her shoulders.
He was talking to her again. His tone seemed awkward but, well, sincere. As he continued on with his concerned reasonings, she felt a hot blush rise to her cheeks despite the spring water trickling down them. And, really, she wasn't sure why she was blushing, as she found nothing in his suggestion that actually scared or embarrassed her. On the contrary, her eyes glowed from her big smile.
"Damn, you move fast," she told him, and let the moments drag before finally laughing. "Just kidding. That's probably a good idea. I guess you're one of the lucky ones that found their stuff, huh?"
Taya made the first moves to start heading towards the dry land, wading through the water as he then asked about making fire. She stopped to turn and face him while she thought about it.
"Huuummm," she murmured, brows furrowing. She crossed her arms and gave him an apologetic look that meant she hadn't any smart ideas. "Don't you just find some dry grass and twirl around a stick in your palms? ..Sorry, I'm not that good. We will figure something out, though."

As the splash hit him he would go back to grinning like an idiot. He imagined the handful of survivors running around in nothing but was what granted to them upon their birth and barely could contain his laughter. Shit, maybe they should try and pry into the storage compartment of the plane? He doubted that anything survived but the things that weren't allowed in the cabin would be in there... they might even find something worthy of being called a tool. Maybe someone had brought some kind of survival kit? Was it possible to be that lucky?
Once again he would splash her, continuing the playful cycle as the smile never left his face. "N-Nah, I generally take my time with things. I am thorough though," he would comment, flashing her a grin. He would have to take a mental check though, wondering how his words would be taken. Innocent or no? He hadn't meant anything, obviously, but a ringing 'that's what she said' popped into the forefront of his mind, making it really hard not to say the words aloud. "It also helps that I only had one backpack with all of my stuff... I'm a light packer."
Slowly he would watch the blush creep on her face, curious as to why it was there. He was going to let that slide though, figuring it was best for now. Instead he would watch her leave, taking now his moment to appreciate the female figure that she had as she climbed out of the water. And with the way that water had with clothes he was grateful for the icy waters around him. He would find his teeth chattering a bit at the reminder of cold as he too climbed from the waters.
As soon as his feet touched the earth he was reminded of the damage they had taken and winced a bit. Still, he managed to get himself out of the cold water and up on dry land. The air caused him to shiver though he did his best to 'man up' and endure it. He steeled his nerves, forcing himself to stop shivering as he moved over to his bag. He listened to her try and explain something about using the dry grass and felt a hint of worry in him. "I guess its sushi for the both of us then, eh?" he would say, glancing back at her for a moment with a joking smile. Fire just needed three things: Fuel, ignition and oxygen. So they needed some kind of kindling and something that could start a fire... some kind of heat or friction... something. Yeah... maybe he should have been a boyscout? Would have made his father happy. Shoulda-coulda-woulda.
He fumbled around the cans and bottles before pulling out a large olive-colored tee-shirt and a pair of pajama pants. These and the clothes that laid on the damp earth that he'd taken off earlier was all he had left. It was a strange thought but he wasn't going to bring it up to her.
"Here, I don't think they will fit... but the pants have a drawstring. You can wear them for now and we can hang your clothes up in the sun somewhere.. sound good?"

◄ HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? [HASH]Taya She wouldn't have imagined herself here in a million years. The world was an interesting place. It always threw curveballs at her. Logan would apparently be one of those. He crossed by her and lifted himself out of the water, droplets splashing her face, and she felt she knew where this was heading. Felt so out of place, though. Maybe it was, and she was out of her mind. Maybe they were both dead and this was paradise.
She followed him, climbing to dry land, and the feel of the motion brought back memories of her childhood. She'd spent a lot of time in springs and lakes. Skinny dipping with all the neighborhood kids when they were all pretty tiny. Skinny dipping later on when they all weren't so tiny. She'd really lived life. There was always that, at least, if they weren't going to live out the month.
A terrible thought. Not a new one, though. Water dropped and splashed from them both. Their clothes clung to their bodies. Her eyes enjoyed freedom, drinking the sight of his body in like she'd never done before. What if they were going to die? Logan bent over his belongings, shuffling through noisy clutter. Everybody dies eventually. We may be just a bit early.. He stood there, speaking, while his outstretched arm carried dry clothes. Her eyes stayed on his, though, and she almost didn't seem to hear a word he was saying.
"I kind of wish I'd met you somewhere else," she said, finally. It had taken a moment to muster the courage to speak without filters. But the thought that they didn't have forever was inspiration. "Anywhere. You're a fun guy. I'd be okay if we were the only two left here."
She grabbed at the bottom of her green shirt and, unabashed by his presence, pulled it over her head, revealing her skinny torso underneath. She hadn't worn anything special, just a plain green bra that she liked for the comfort. She considered taking that off too, but she stopped herself for numerous reasons. Instead she took the clothes he was offering, and, hanging the pants over a bush nearby, she pulled the shirt on.
Taya turned back to him, feigning her best look of innocence, as if to tease him. The pants were next to go but she wanted to make a game of it and see where the curveball would go.
"I like sushi, by the way. That crap is expensive, though. Only if you're paying."

For a moment he wondered if he had said something wrong. The vacant look in her eye that he caught as he held out the clothes worried him. It seemed though that she was lost in thought. He didn't blame her. The experience of the crash no doubt was weighing on her mind. Most people didn't function like he did when it came to tragedy and calamity. It was sentiment, though, that always caught him off guard.
Her words caused him to lose his train of thought rather quickly. People didn't normally say things like that to him. Instead of thanking her though he would try and pass it off with another joke. "Just remember that when you get to know me a little better," he would said, leaning back on his heels to relieve the pressure on the balls of his swollen feet momentarily.
It was quite the compliment though. Or, at least, it was to him. He wouldn't forget it easily... or maybe he had thought too soon. She removed her shirt and felt his mind go blank for a moment. That was another thing he hadn't expected. He couldn't help but to watch as the wet shirt peeled away. He found himself fumbling through dozens of scenarios in his mind before he could tear his gaze away. He had given her his word, after all, had he not? He just felt bad it had taken him as long as it did. Still, the mental images were there.
Down boy, his brain growled at him. He would rub his hand across the back of his neck. He knew it had been on purpose and part of him really wanted to question what was going through her mind right now. Last thing he wanted to do was assume something when it was not. That look on her face though? He had to take himself a breath, giving her a bit of a smile. The look of her in nothing but his shirt made it hard for him to not slip back into his usual skin. He would pat over his person as she asked about paying, an faux apologetic look on his face, "it seems I have misplaced my wallet," he would tease back, "we could always go dutch?"
As he said that though he would distract himself by slipping on his pants. He hated the feeling of jeans on wet skin. The chaffing was weird but bearable.

◄ HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? [HASH]Taya Taya loved playing mental games with people sometimes, but this was different and the pleasure was all hers at his obviously censored reactions. She watched his face and enjoyed knowing he liked what he saw. He didn't seem too perturbed and it was a nice feeling; they were already pretty cozy with one another and again she was reminded of childhood and times spent with best friends. She wouldn't act this open with just any stranger back at home, but Taya decided nothing from back home really mattered anymore.
Her belly was suddenly rumbling with hunger as she snickered to herself, pulling on the dry pj pants and tightening the drawstrings. They were so comfortable. She almost could say she felt as though they'd just taken a bath and was now about to settle down for bed. But, the feel of greasy hair and face was enough to send her back to reality. As much fun as they were having together, and despite feeling calm enough to recognize hunger, she knew she should try to be a little more serious right now. Play more games after they try surviving first. Actually, she was kind of excited to get fishing. How successful would it really be? Maybe they shouldn't get their hopes up, but Taya knew she'd try keeping up with the positive energy.
"Sure, I'll go Dutch," she acquiesced as she ran fingers through her tangled hair. The air around them was muggy, but it was daytime in the middle of the jungle. She had no idea what night time would be like. A little cold, maybe? Well, they could always cuddle. Platonically of course. Survival of the cave man style.
She glanced down to his feet, which seemed to be bothering him, still.
"Walking through this is gonna suck. Poor guy. Want to borrow my flip flops?" she asked, pointing at the pair of black beach sandals made of rubber. She still wished she'd worn tennis shoes, but Taya was all about the comfort of traveling - and getting though security lines really fast. She was serious about the offer, if only it would work. She had small feet. Sevens. He would probably bust through the straps on them.
"Maybe we should make a last trek out to the beach where it'll be easier on your feet. And we can work in making a spear for you. Sounds like fun. I needed a vacation. Or we can stay here for the night....what do you think?"
He had said there were other survivors, and maybe it would be best to meet up with them. Somehow, she didn't feel overly keen on it just yet. But she'd follow Logan wherever he went at this point.

The fact that the mood had stayed so light was really nice. The adrenaline from everything had long faded from him and the refreshing effects of the icy waters was dulling. He was tired, he realized, and sore. He would cast her a bit of a smile at the agreement to go dutch. How they would actually eat would be something they would work on, but for now they would just have to deal with things as they are. One issue at a time.
At the mention of his feet, he would glance towards the sandals. Even if they did fit he wasn't about to take them. His feet were already messed up, no need to add hers to that list. "Nah, keep 'em," he'd say with a shrug, "they will heal and I can just get some new callouses."
He didn't know whether or not he wanted to go to the beach. He wouldn't mind avoiding the other survivors. He didn't feel like sharing his liquor. Or... dealing with the drama. Taya had ended up being okay, but a dozen sob stories would wear down on his patience. Staying here wasn't a good idea either. It was a source of fresh water- he had a feeling people would be coming around here too. Maybe further down the beach... or something?
"Soft sand does sound nice," he agreed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I don't really want to... hang around the others. We could find a place further down the beach? Then we can still keep an eye on the horizon for anyone and fish when I make that spear...?" He'd glance at her in his clothes as he waited to hear her opinion on the matter. It wasn't as nice to look at but the mental images would be in his brain for a while. Still, they would need to find a sunny spot to air out their clothes and the beach would be a better spot then the shady area around the lagoon.

◄ HAVEN'T YOU HEARD WHAT BECOMES OF CURIOUS MINDS? [HASH]Taya She nodded and accepted his ideas of staying to themselves for now. She bent over to start collecting the wet clothes she'd discarded. Crazy how clothes were like gold nuggets now. She was grateful that Logan had been willing to unselfishly lend his to her. She was still smiling to herself, thinking about the fun they'd had.
"Alright, let's go chill on the beach. I was thinking I may be able to find a sharp rock and carve it a bit more for cutting fish."
The rocks around here were more like granite stone, and they often broke off with sharp edges, so she was confident she could find something useful. Her eyes started wandering around the ground as her mind became engrossed in serious thoughts now. She was hungry. Hopefully they'd be fishing soon. Time was of the essence. As much as she wanted to run away from the hurt of all this, she knew what needed to be done.
"I guess we will be back here soon enough. Maybe we will find bottles we can reuse so we don't have to keep coming back here," she said, flipping her wet hair away from her face. As she spoke, she picked up a medium sized rock and studied it. It seemed alright. One side was thick, while it thinned out towards the other side. A possible dagger. She just needed to spend time trimming it down.
