Zach is a bit rugged at first glance. Since the crash, his hair has become shaggy and windswept, and he doesn't shave often, so he often sports a bit of facial scruff. He carries himself around with what appears to be general aloofness, with pride in his step. His clothes are dirty and unkempt at this point, and he's mostly seen in his dark olive green T-shirt and dark jeans.
He has a look of intensity to his features, dark eyes always piercing. His brows are always furrowed, giving the appearance of deep thought or seriousness, which usually isn't far off from what's really going on.

When he sees a weak spot, he'll likely punch it. Generally, he has good intentions, but his style is usually to stir the pot and even manipulate to make a situation more suitable for his preference. After the Crash
After the crash, Zach spent the first few hours anguished by the disappearance of his brother, Joey. When he realized Joey was probably dead, he went a little unstable for a while, but this shift in emotions channeled into leadership among the chaos. Because he allowed himself to succumb to a certain emotional numbness, he was able to take control of the survivors and direct them to safety. He lead the charge in gathering fallen supplies and keeping everyone from panicking. He rescued a few people from inside the wreckage and, therefore, is a little scarred from the many sights he'd seen. A few of the people he actually had to sit by as they passed away.
Zach has made a number of friends and enemies. Raion is considered a partner or co-leader, as they helped each other keep things organized a lot in the beginning, and Raion's calm and kind demeanor fills in much of what Zach is missing, and vice versa. He respects Raion because of this, but feels his partner is too emotionally weak to make important decisions on his own. Zach has had a one night stand with Lori, and is currently confused about his own feelings for her. He also discovered recently that Joey is alive, sending him into a surge of confusion when he realized Joey wasn't completely right in the head now.
