His brain was foggy, but in overdrive. The smells and the sounds were all so clear to him as he sat motionlessly in the sand, brown eyes staring unfocused at the debris. I'm going to die. That persistent, mind boggling phrase would not leave him alone. He couldn't focus on any other thought. As blood oozed from a wound on his scalp, he ran his tongue across his dry lips, while bloodied fingers felt the textures of beach sand and the ridges of shells scattered across the island shores. An island.Wait, another thought. An idea, almost. Raion was in shock. He knew the crash had happened, but he was so disoriented, he wasn't sure when it has happened. Days? Minutes? When he tried to think more about, his head throbbed too much. Better to accept the numbness that kept him from screaming. Still, he was sure he was going to die, and yet he felt no rush of panic yet. And of course, nothing like the terror he'd felt as their plane went free falling from the sky. Just one second brought a flash of memory; a face, staring back at him, mouth agape in a scream. Then it was gone. He didn't feel up to standing just yet. He had crawled to a plam tree towards the treeline long ago and appreciated the tree's stability. His hand mindlessly reached up to his head, fingertips hovering just above the gash that was making him dizzy. His eyes finally left the sight of the wreckage and sought something more tangibly real; his own body. He knew he was in pain. A little more mental clarity brought back some rational thinking other than I'm going to die.Raion understood that this bleeding needed to stop or it really would be the death of him. It took some long moments to come up with an idea, which then involved some careful removal of the red shirt he had been wearing. Easing it over his head, he then gently wrapped it around his scalp and applied pressure. "Ahh!" was his pained reaction. In that moment, he felt himself again. He felt grounded. The shock was wearing off. The sudden, intense pain all over his body probably helped.

000 words i wrote you a love letter but I realized this note would suffice. ► Everything seemed to be pouring into her memory at once when she regained consciousness, and the memories were so vivid that she had to keep her eyes closed tightly in order to try and fight them away. It felt like she couldn't breathe and she was gasping at the air, finally sitting up and opening her eyes, surprised to see that she was on land; it had felt like she was drowning. In the back of her mind she'd known exactly where she was and what had happened the second she came to, but it took a few moments for the awareness to come into her frontal lobe. There had been a plane crash. Her number one fear had happened, and she felt sick all over again. But at the same time she felt oddly calm. She always was calm and logical in emergency situations, and she always surprised everyone who had usually thought of her as timid and someone who would flee. But not when she knew she had to take care of others. And there would be others. Hopefully. Oh gosh, what if she was the only survivor? No, she couldn't think of that now.
She didn't know how long it had been since the crash, and she tried to push away the moments before, but they kept coming back to her like a television that was having the channels flipped over and over again, nonstop. A smile. A young man around her age. Regret at not saying hi. Music. Relaxing. Calm but worried voice. Screams. Falling. Boom. The crash. Almost as soon as she stood up, a woman in a torn flight attendant uniform rushed over to her and thanked her for her help, but Kelly was confused. She'd helped already? As she looked around she saw more people than she'd expected to see all scattered on the shore, and a lot of luggage had seemed to be salvaged already. That was odd. But she automatically asked if her help was needed and she was told to go look for more survivors who may have wandered off. She set off to find them. It was like her body was on automatic at the moment and she wasn't thinking like a person. She just had this deep sense of duty and responsibility to help as much as she could and figure out the details later. Once the shock subsided and reality sunk in, she would most likely be a panicked mess.
Off in the distance she came across a familiar face with a red shirt around his head. Kelly recognized who he was and a little bit of the shock wore off, leaving her mind clear just enough to give him a wary smile. "Are you okay?"

Things seemed to come back to him one at a time as he sat there. First he could hear voices. Mostly dulled and farther away. He had crawled away from the crash a greater distance than he realized. The sounds of other survivors made him come back to his senses and he started squinting against the sunlight to see if he could see anyone. The fact that he wasn't going to be alone was absolutely thrilling, almost revitalizing. He attempted to stand, and did for a few seconds, but his head was hurting too much and he just felt so weak. He plopped back down into the sand and sighed. His hand still held tightly at the shirt around his head. Barely a minute must've passed by before he looked back up to see someone walking towards hIm. It was a glorious sight. He thought he could cry in that moment, but the tears didn't come. Only a smile did as he realized who it was walking toward him. It was the girl on the plane that he'd been sitting by. She was a familiar face because she'd haunted his entire plane ride. Seeing her brought back the images of the crash once again. Raion's smile faded. One of the last things he could remember was thinking of the girl next to him and seeing the terror in her eyes. How odd that he had this brief moment of normalcy, albeit short. He was happy she was alive. And yet there was nothing to be happy about right now apart from the fact that they were survivors. For now. She asked him if he was ok. He stared at her blankly as the first feelings of mortal fear started to return. The sound of her voice was like a switch that made him come back to his humanity. Oh god, he could be dying right now. He felt pains all over. Was he bleeding internally? He really had no idea what kind of condition he was in. He wondered what he looked like as he made eye contact with the girl he'd been wanting to meet. Funny that he would get what he wanted finally. Was it funny? He felt like laughing now. What in the world had gotten into him? Finally, after what seemed like ages, he remembered that he should be responding to her question. "I'm not sure if I'm ok. Are you?" he rasped. His voice was clearly laced with the mass confusion he felt, and his question was almost mechanical, like he'd been programmed to say it all his life. He moved the shirt away from his head and looked at it. Yeah, it was bloody.

000 words i wrote you a love letter but I realized this note would suffice. ► Kelly waited patiently for the young man's reply. She could see the horror in his eyes and her heart wrenched, but she told herself that she needed to keep her emotions at bay until everyone was safe...well, as safe as they could be. Suddenly she saw a look of pain come over the man's face and her expression became more worried. It didn't look anything was wrong with him except a head injury and some scratches, but she was no doctor so she couldn't tell if he was bleeding internally or if anything was twisted or fractured. Nothing seemed to be broken horribly, meaning that no bones were poking out of the skin, so that was good.
She winced at the gash that was revealed after the shirt was removed but she didn't want to freak him out and make things worse. "I think I'm okay... In shock and trying to see if anyone is alive. Your head is cut, but..." She peered in closer, breathing a sigh of relief. "It doesn't look like it will need stitches or anything. Do you feel nauseous?" She was worried that he might have a concussion. While waiting for his reply, Kelly took a moment to briefly step out of her shock and into the familiarity of memory, and she felt a bit of her normal self return to her.

Raion noted how calm and collected she was as her eyes roved about his body. She must be checking him for injuries. He saw worry on her face, but somehow knew not to associate that with the possibility that he was dying. She had even seemed nervous in the plane, he remembered. Or maybe he was making that memory up now. He closed his eyes for a brief second, picturing the plane as it was as he'd first stepped foot on it. He was one of the first to board. The plane was mostly empty. He had a seat towards the middle. Near the emergency doors. He'd walked fast, a nervous pace, having almost missed the plane to begin with. And then he had seen there was a pretty girl already sitting in the same row as him. Here she was in front of him now, looking at his head and explaining how it seemed to be manageable. It was a relief to hear her voice. He probably wouldn't have cared in that moment if she was saying that it looks like he would die. He reached out a hand to try and snatch hers. "I can't believe you're alive," he told her, catching her eyes while a smile planted itself on his lips. "Hi. I'm Raion."Maybe he had lost his mind, but suddenly they were all living in the moment. At least if he did die in the next few minutes, he'd finally gotten to say hello to the girl on the plane. There certainly was no mistaking the sincerity of his voice and the glow in his eyes. He seemed to come back to reality as the smile disappeared and he recalled the question she had asked him. Nauseous? He left the world for a moment to study his inward self. No, he wasn't sick, actually. He just felt achey all over. Battered, he supposed. He shook his head before responding with a 'no.' As the moments passed, he could've sworn he felt his mental clarity returning. "I'm actually feeling...better all of a sudden. I think I needed to calm down. I must have panicked."

000 words i wrote you a love letter but I realized this note would suffice. ► It was funny how Kelly had been scolding herself the whole flight about not saying anything to the handsome young man sitting next to her, and as the plane went down she thought of her family and her whole life and the fact that she would never get to say hi to the stranger. But here they were, and she'd said hi and now they were having a conversation. Call her crazy, but Kelly was actually managing to blush when the man introduced himself and took her hand in his. She returned the smile and replied, "It's nice to meet you, Raion. I'm Kelly." Time seemed frozen as she looked into his eyes, being locked into them for some reason that she couldn't explain.
She was relieved to hear that Raion wasn't nauseous, and she noted that it was a miracle that he wasn't injured worse than he was. "That's good! I was worried you might have a concussion... You should still probably take it easy, though, until a doctor or someone with more experience looks at you. And it's understandable to have panicked! I know we all have. Speaking of which, I think I saw some of the other survivors grouping up a little ways from the crash site, but that means we'll have to walk back there..." She didn't really want to face the sight again and risk panicking, but somehow she would feel a lot braver if Raion went with her.

Kelly. Kelly was her name. Yeah, she was a Kelly. Did that thought make sense? Yeah, sure. She said she was Kelly and she looked like a Kelly. She held his eyes for as long as he'd hoped before she was back on track to more important things. She mentioned that he should be checked out by someone else eventually. Upon hearing that, his eyes skipped away from her to finally take in his surroundings with greater awareness. There was smoke. People running about. Collecting things. Surprisingly quiet. Those who talked spoke in urgent murmurs to one another. Yeah, take is easy, Kelly suggested. Raion was okay with that. Would she stay with him, though? He was feeling frightened, of course, but at least if she had to leave him to help someone else, he could manage. Looks like they'd crashed on some island, so nobody was going anywhere anytime soon. She talked about seeing a group of people. Survivors, she called them. He felt sad when he recollected the severity of what happened. The bodies he'd seen. Lots of people had died. Taking in a breath, he tried to start standing. He took it slow, using the tree he was leaning against as most of his support. As he stood at full height, he felt a little dizzy, maybe, but for the most part, normal. He couldnt help but smile at her. Probably meant he was mostly fine. He kept his shirt wrapped around it, though. If anything, it'd keep the dust out of it. "I'll come with you. I can walk. I don't think it's too bad," he said in response, his eyes looking for that group that had been mentioned. They must've gathered a decent ways from the crash because he couldn't see them. Kelly would have to lead, then.

000 words i wrote you a love letter but I realized this note would suffice. ► The location of the crash had registered in the back of Kelly’s mind, but she wasn’t consciously recognizing that it was an island that could possibly be deserted. That was a good thing, because she’d otherwise be thinking way too much about what to do that she’d just get overwhelmed.
She held her breath as Raion began to stand up, and she held her arms out warily in case he was going to fall away from the tree; although she doubted that she could catch him without falling, herself. When the dreaded apprehension was over and Raion seemed to be okay, Kelly huffed a sigh of relief and was smiling back at him before she even knew she was doing it.
”I’m so glad you can walk,” she replied, just in that moment realizing that he could have been paralyzed and not known it. She was also relieved that Raion would be walking back with her. ”If you feel unsteady at any point, I’ll do my best to support you. I’m not too strong physically.” She chuckled slightly. Emotionally and now even mentally, even, Kelly was superwoman. But physically? Eh… not so much.
As they walked, Kelly tried to see if she could bring her mind to focus on anything other than the crash, but she failed. However, she soon became aware of how her legs were already aching; they must have been pushed to their limits already, but Kelly couldn’t remember really using them for anything other than walking and running in the last few hours. Ah, maybe that was it. Boy, she was not looking forward to the comedown from this adrenaline, but then again maybe it wouldn’t leave her until they were rescued. If they were rescued? Kelly wasn’t afraid of that right now.
She looked over at Raion again to make sure he was still okay. Even though Kelly was a shy person, she knew that if she wasn’t too focused on just getting Raion looked at, she would be making conversation with him. But currently her brow was furrowed in determination to help out Raion and then as many others as she could.
Soon they arrived to the group of survivors who had gathered there. There were some people being looked at by a flight attendant. Kelly had recognized the uniform even though it was torn, frayed, and even burnt in some areas. How brave the flight attendants had been during everything––that came back to Kelly as she watched the other woman.

Raion nodded at her offer of support. This woman was remarkably calm and reassuring. Looking at her, he thought maybe her eerie calmness was a product of some kind of disaster training. Maybe she was an EMT? A nurse? Or just superwoman. Maybe this was a crazy dream and he was walking with superwoman. "I don't know, you did survive a plane crash. That's pretty strong of you," he replied, maybe a bit darkly, but he was smiling as they walked through the sand. He hated the sand, it always got everywhere. His muscles ached from the resistance. Looking forward now, he saw just how many people were gathering together here. They all seemed to be talking amongst each other, and some panick was evident as some lay on the ground in pain. A few souls even looked dead. Raion felt frightened by the scene, but he was forcing it down as he, too, watched the flight attendant and the way she was caring for people. There was some order to the madness, after all. Beyond the group, a young, dark haired man was talking to a few of the adults, pointing directions and speaking low and urgently. The people nodded and seemed to be taking directions from him. He looked like a brooding, angry sight as he surveyed the lot of people spread out all around. "Kelly," he said, turning to her and giving her a quick look over. "Are you sure you aren't injured? How long have you been up and about? Maybe you should sit here and rest, too."He was thinking how he would like to help out as well if Kelly didn't want to stay. Find out if there were any more injured that needed help, much like Kelly had found him. He may be a little too weak to carry anyone, but he felt some vigor returning in the adrenaline of the air around them.

#Kelly i wrote you a love letter but I realized this note would suffice. ► Kelly chuckled had his joke and shrugged slightly. "True..." Once they got to their destination, Kelly almost didn't hear Raion speak to her because she was so involved in thinking about other survivors. She turned her head and waited until she fully realized what he was asking and then she looked down at herself. "I... I'm not sure. Apparently I had already been helping others before I became unconscious, and I don't know how long I'd been awake and walking around before I found you." Despite the slight concern in her voice for her own well-being, there was something wonderful about being able tell Raion that she found him.
Her eyes scanned the crowd again and she began feeling an odd sensation take over her mind and then her body, and she was unaware that she was swaying slightly. "I need to... help the others. I'm fine. I just need some water." She hurried over to her luggage that wasn't too far away and found her water bottle. She took a few sips before handing it to Raion; normally she wasn't one to share a drink with a stranger, but this was a very unusual circumstance.

Now that she had some hydration, she began to feel a bit better. She knew that she should probably sit down and cool off because it wouldn't be good for anyone to have heat exhaustion with such little water, but she was dead set on making sure as many people lived as possible. Kelly only had a few cuts, herself, and some bruising on the right side of her face and a few spots on her arms and legs, but nothing seemed to be broken, thankfully.

Listening to her story about her own personal survival made Raion sick to his stomach. Also, he was marveling at how she still kept going even after all of that. It was admirable, the way she pushed onward with fervent desire to help those around them. But, as she started swaying on her feet and losing someone train of thought, his mild concern became real fear for her. He had held out his arms in case she was going to fall, but she managed to stay upright as she wandered off to get something. He followed right on her heels and stopped when she did. She was having a drink and Raion hasn't noticed his dry mouth before as he took the bottle she offered him. Fear of the future made him want to guzzle as much as he could now, but like Kelly, he didn't have a selfish bone in his body and he took only a sip before hiding it back in the luggage she grabbed it from. It was her water and he wouldn't dare taking it to distribute it to others. Looks like she had done her part in things and really needed to calm down. "I think there are others less injured that can carry on in your place. Maybe we should take a little break here."He sat down in the sand, hoping she would follow. The sunshine was bright but at least the trees around offered some shade here and there. "You weren't looking too good there for a few seconds. You need to take care of yourself before you get any worse."He smiled at her and tried to ignore the sweat dripping down his back.
