would you live each moment like your last There was a strange sound that bordered between a hum and a roar that filled Benjamin’s semi-conscious mind. Everything felt wrong, he couldn’t quite figure out why but as the first thing besides the strange noise filtered back into his senses all he could taste was the metallic tang of blood in his mouth. Licking his lips with a deep groan he became more aware of the sharp bite across his hips from the plane’s seatbelt. Ben jerked slightly at the realization that he had been on a plane, and that something had gone wrong, terribly wrong but he felt as if there was still a thick fog in his mind. Another groan left his lips and his eyes opened only to meet a complete disaster. He was still tightly belted into his seat but at an impossible angle and was hanging forward. The flickering of broken emergency lights assaulted his eyes and the strange whirring that he had first heard was the plane’s engine slowing down. “Fuck,” he whispered as he struggled to look around and reached up struggling with the seat belt that was cutting into his hips as it was supporting nearly his entire weight. Managing to bring his legs up despite the tight space, bracing his feet against what remained of the seat row in front of him, he was able with quite some force to unbuckle his seat belt. However, he hadn’t planned for the inevitable outcome and immediately fell forward onto the seat below him. “Fuck,” he growled again with a little more venom raising up to his knees to finally get a proper look around. He almost wished he hadn’t. It was hard to tell what was happening, things were jumbled, and it looked like the worst kind of haunted house and the flickering emergency lighting just added to the effect. His head was pounding and he could feel the warm sticky feeling of blood running down his face. He knew he had to have more injuries, but at the moment he didn’t want to stop and assess himself until he could get clear of the wreckage. But getting out of this horror story would be easier said than done, he could see a brighter light filtering in from further down in the plane, where he could only assume a piece of the fuselage had been ripped apart. Looking next to him, Benjamin was reminded just how lucky he was to be still breathing and mobile. The man that had been seated next to him appeared to have been impaled by some piece of metal, and it was obvious that he was no longer part of this world. Moving under him, Benjamin carefully made his way along the seat backs, moving slowly out of the worry that any sudden shift might cause even more damage to what remained of the plane. As he made it to the aisle seat he sunk back to his knees, wincing at the pain that lanced through his body at the movement. He gave a quick glance at the overhead compartment only to see, to his disappointment, that it had come open during the crash. That mean only God knew what had become of his carryon, and all that had been in it. Sighing he gingerly lowered himself before dropping to the next row of seats and grunted softly as he made impact on the padded seat back. He was half tempted to just slide down the aisle and get out of here as quickly as possible, but he knew taking this slow and steady would be much safer. Also, in the back of his head he was wondering if there were any others still trapped on the plane. Despite his outwardly selfish and self-serving attitude, Benjamin wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he knew he had left someone else stuck in here. @estheim || [HASH]Ben || yay template, bleh post but I wanted it up! and ignite your bones Fire and pain. That's what her world had come to, it would seem. All she could remember was the look of panic in her neighbor's eye before everything went dark. Even now her head still felt hazy. Viviana could feel her cell phone digging into her thigh, but she couldn't reach it to relieve the pressure. The twisted metal of the row before hers had caught her leg. A deep pain radiated upwards from her ankle and calf, but she dared not move. Her slim figure had slipped mostly from the seat belt and now she hung dangerously. The belt tucked in her armpit to help keep her suspended, her knuckles whitened with terror and effort. If she let go, she would surely break her knee on the row of seats. Misery was not a strong enough word, nor was desperate or even horrified. Vivi had no way to put voice to how she felt. Tight lipped, she let herself cry. After all, it wasn't like she was being melodramatic. This truly was a horrid situation and she didn't have a single idea on how to escape what would appear to be a grisly fate. Swallowing harshly, a single word caught her attention. "Fuck." Someone else was alive on the plan. A man, who seemed to be - if her ears did not deceive her - making his way down the length of the plan. At first the muscles of her throat refused to answer the demands of Vivi's brain. Call out! Call for help! Damnit, say something! A cracked and strangled sob escaped her. "Pl-please! Please, help." Try as she might, the ugly blue of her seat blocked her view and she couldn't make out who could possibly be on their way out of the aircraft. In agony, she tried mightily to pull herself up a bit more to get a better view. But the time she'd spent hanging there had exhausted her arms and what little upper body strength she'd had. More liquid gushed from her eyes. She wanted to be home, in her fantastic art studio filled with her works. A small stab to her heart increased the flow of tears; she realized that all the work she'd brought with on the plane was most likely scattered across the ocean or burned away in the belly of the plane. Nothing could replace them. They were original and signified the culmination of her life's work at this point. A gasp of grief escaped her lips, but before she could mire herself any deeper in melancholia, she started to slip. The startled screech that ripped itself out of wounded lungs pierced even her own ears. And then she felt an incredibly indescribable pain in her ankle. lights will guide you home TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ Delusional & SP

would you live each moment like your last With every move he made, making slow progress down the length of the plane he became more and more aware of his own injuries. A healthy gash that cut into his thigh above his knee throbbed and oozed blood every time he even thought about taking a step, and then a thin slice just at his cheekbone was steadily streaming blood down his face, adding to the blood that was already on his shirt. Then there were his ribs, every breath he took shot pain through his ribs, but from what he could tell at least they didn’t seem actually broken. Bruised at the very least, possibly cracked, but definitely jacked up in some manner. These things alone would make his progress slow, but he was also taking the extra few moments each time he paused to glance down each row. It seemed a lot of the seats were empty already, whether that meant others had already escaped the wreckage, or if they had been thrown from the plane during the crash he hadn’t the slightest idea. But for every few empty seats there was one that held a passenger that would never leave it again. Even though Benjamin wasn’t a sensitive guy this scene over and over again was difficult to take in. Dropping one more row, he paused, closing his eyes trying to steady himself and his breathing through the throbbing that radiated throughout his body and that’s when he heard the choked out cry, “Pl-please! Please, help.” and he froze. There was someone else alive still, but he couldn’t help but curse under his breath as there was no mistaking that the cry for help had come from above him. She must have been seated behind him on the plane, something he hadn’t considered when he had begun his descent. Looking up the aisle from where he had just painfully made his way from, back down to where his goal had been moments ago he sighed as it sunk in that he had made it about half-way to getting out of this damned steel deathtrap. “Dammit,” he whispered before reaching back up, gritting his teeth at the pain that the movement caused through his shoulder and side. “Hold on, it’ll be okay,” he called back as he began to haul himself back up the plane, heading in the direction the voice had cried out from and where he had just come from. Yet, the only thing Ben received in reply to his response was a shriek of shock and pain. This was a bad sound, anyone could understand that but to Ben it reminded him of a caught and wounded animal, something badly injured and this put a tight knot of unease in his gut and spurred him to move even faster. “Hang in there,” he grunted as he came back even with his original seat and began to look more closely at the seat rows as he moved further back into the plane. Finally he reached her, her foot pinned in the mangled wreckage that had been the seat in front of her and her sprawled at a very poor angle in comparison to her foot and leg on the seat backs. Hundreds of different scenarios raced through his mind as he looked at her, sweat from the pain and exertion of climbing the plane mixing with the blood that still covered his face. If she had broken her leg being pinned like she was that didn’t spell great news for the young lady, but then there was always a risk with being pinned like she was that something worse could be happening to the trapped body part. Bleeding, or just simply crushed and judging by her scream of pain moments ago he was rather concerned. “Hey,” Ben had a slight frown on his lips as he managed to haul himself up so he was now even with her. @estheim || [HASH]Ben || yay template, bleh post but I wanted it up! and ignite your bones She didn't want to die. She couldn't die. Vivi's life had only just begun! Where was the balance and fairness in the world? The hope and brilliance so many preached about? The salty tinge of her tears made for such an unpleasant burning sensation, but the girl refused to blink. What if she closed her eyes and the ragged remains of her world came crashing down? Trying to remain still, eyes scanned over what parts of her she could see. The rest she would have to assume was either fine or missing - and god forbid it be the latter. Vivi almost laughed. Yes, the good lord willing she would be completely intact, as the Chavez family didn't sit well with anything out of the norm. Her mother. Her father. She missed them suddenly as fear reared up within her shaking chest again. Would her eyes ever grace their faces again? Would her tongue ever be destined to taste the richness of tamales with her brother or her head fated to ever lay on the Egyptian cotton sheets? All at once, her ridiculously strict and snobby family was absolutely perfect. She didn't care that her brother was learning to be a bit of a scam artist from her dad's friends. She all but forgot her arguments with mama about boys and revealing clothing. And more than anything, she found she was able to forgive her father for never truly being there for her. All the missed art shows, the abandoned seminars, the cancelled fight plans - her family, in all it's perfectly flawed perfection...she would take them as-is. "Hold on, it'll be okay."It cut straight through her inward dwelling and clawed at her heart. Someone cared. Someone was coming! Straining, Vivi attempted to crane her neck over the edge, but to no avail. Not wishing to risk her own well being for curiosity any further, she waited as patiently as possible. Arm still stuck through the belt to keep her in place, ankle and calf still woefully unprepared to receive any weight. Angry darkness that had crept around her, consuming everything thought now slunk away. A light was burning brightly again. It'll be okay. Yes, yes it would indeed. Humanity had not been completely dashed upon the earth it would seem. Vivi pushed away the mental images of the men who had rushed past her, not even sparing a second glance when she called out and begged their aid. Finally he was with her, her unknown rescuer. Some small part of her heart needed to keep it's mouth shut, she decided as her eyes finally found his face. He was in rough shape. Hot, sticky red ran down his face and if she wasn't mistaken he was favoring one leg. There was no way to be certain of his age, other than to ask, and it was not at the top of the current to-do list. However, Vivi could tell he was older than her. Under the dirt and blood on his face, she could just make out vague crow's feet at the corners of his eyes. Eyes that were a storm all unto themselves and Viviana found she couldn't quite meet their intensity yet. Another thought came to her, completely unbidden. A desperate, half laugh escaped her, as teary eyes surveyed the would-be savior. All Viviana could think was how much her mother would disapprove of the man that could possibly save her life. lights will guide you home TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ Delusional & SP

would you live each moment like your last He chewed lightly on his lip as he surveyed how this woman was positioned. She was in a tough spot, but hopefully she had kept herself from sustaining too serious of an injury. However, that didn’t help the fact that her foot was stuck, and the longer she remained like that the more potential for a catastrophic outcome. “Can you feel your foot?” He asked with a quick nod to her trapped appendage before finally meeting her eyes. He was hoping she could, because that spelled better things for the young woman, even if it would likely be more painful. At least if she could feel pain in her foot the circulation hadn’t been completely cut off. Even though he was trying to go through different solutions for the current problem, the best thing he could come up with was trying to shift the seats just enough for her to pull her foot free. Then at least they could get out of the horror house the remained of the plane and evaluate both of their injuries a bit more thoroughly. Benjamin wasn’t completely unaccustomed to injuries, after all leading a bunch of yahoos out into the woods where they had never been before he was bound to have dealt with his fair share of scrapes, bumps and twisted ankles, but not only was a plane crash novel for him but so was the fact that he was injured as well. He certainly wasn’t used to being the one battered and bleeding, so at the very least he was grateful that for the moment he could focus on someone else and something else than his own wounds. “Need to try to shift the seats and get you loose from there,” he said out loud finally verbalizing what he had been thinking. He reached up and ran his fingers through his hair, grimacing slightly at the feel of more than just sweat laced in his hair. He was sure he looked a mess, but with a quick shake of his head he forced himself to focus back on the woman and his task. @estheim || [HASH]Ben || yay template, bleh post but I wanted it up! and ignite your bones He was there, helping and that gave all the hope in the world. Near to crying, Vivi readjusted her position before trying to answer. The shift in her body caused another wash of pain through her leg. A few small tears escaped her red, puffy eyes and she nodded. "Yes, yes I can feel it. It hurts. A lot." Part of her wished she could just yank her leg out and then deal with the rest later. The muscles in Vivi's arms were sure to be cramped for days after this nightmare. It would probably be too much to ask this guy to help her after he freed her. After all, he was already risking himself to get her out of the metal death trap. Before she could linger on her most likely difficult and painful future, her soon-to-be savior spoke again. “Need to try to shift the seats and get you loose from there."A shudder ran through Vivi at the thought of the plan, but at least he thought there was a chance of her getting out alive. She nodded briefly in agreement. Her fingers itched to run through her hair in frustration. Instead she focused her gaze on her companion and decided that she would feel a whole lot better if she at least knew something about him. It would take her mind off the now pulsing ache that spiraled up from below her knee. Clearing her throat and licking her lips, she posed her question, "So what's your name? I'm Viviana." Perhaps it was annoying to poke questions at him while he was working on getting her loose. But the normalcy of it brought and odd sense of comfort. She waited expectantly for him to speak to again. lights will guide you home TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ Delusional & SP

would you live each moment like your last "Yes, yes I can feel it. It hurts. A lot."Ben nodded slightly at this, it might seem strange but to him at least that was a good thing. It meant she still had sensation in her foot, if she didn’t he would have been even more concerned because that would have meant something had lost circulation and had been that way for lord only knew how long. “Good,” he said softly under his breath as he tried to decide on the best course of action. It seemed that she had done her best to keep herself from completely destroying her leg but he didn’t know how much longer she could keep holding herself up, especially at the awkward angle which she was currently. Even if that was the only problem with this situation, Benjamin knew he needed to get this done fast but there was so many more problems and complications. The main one being they had just plummeted to the earth from thirty thousand feet in a damned airplane. Shifting his position slightly he could see a bit of a gap, a space that he should be able to just get a hold of and with some luck he could get things moved just enough for her to pull her leg free. He sighed quietly knowing full well that this would likely hurt her even more and debated momentarily if he should warn her or not. He hadn’t missed her shudder moments ago at the mere mention of his thought so it was likely that she already had an idea the plan wouldn’t be pleasant. Opening his mouth to speak, Ben stopped as she spoke again and he couldn’t help the short, humorless laugh that escaped his mouth at her question. Small talk? Even in the best of situations Ben wasn’t one for small talk, for chatter to just fill the space, and now with what was going on that’s where her mind went? He shook his head slightly, but couldn’t help but smile a little. “Ben, my name’s Ben,” he said with a quick glance back to her face before letting his mind fully return to his previous thoughts. “Gonna need to loosen your boot here,” he stated, his hands going to the buckle that was visible near the top of her calf and quickly undoing it. “I’m going to try to get this moved just enough for you to pull your leg free,” he explained laying his hands on the piece that was trapping her before continuing, “You’ll need to be as quick as you can be to pull back and get free from it. Probably be easiest to try to slip out of that boot.” He paused to look back to her to see if she had any questions before taking a big breath and finishing with the piece of information he knew they both likely didn’t want to hear. “Its likely going to hurt doing this, but its the best option I can see. But its important you get yourself free as quickly as you can.” He actually kept eye contact this time as he spoke wanting her to realize the importance of the last part. He didn’t know how long he’d be able to hold the piece back for her to get out, and if something happened and his grip slipped, it could make whatever injuries she already had even worse. “You understand?”@estheim || [#]Ben || most words spoken evah MEL @ ADOXOGRAPHY

and ignite your bones His laugh made Viviana feel a bit childish, but she didn't mind too much. At least she knew she was still alive. He claimed the name Ben and looking him over, it seemed to fit him perfectly. Short and to the point; unlike her - fancy and often long winded. She wanted to talk more; wanted to blab about useless things until he'd freed her. But it would seem that was not to occur. Instead he spoke, his eyes and hands mapping the metal and finding what he must have believed to be weaknesses in the mangled structure. Perhaps this Ben knew about injuries? Vivi stared at him a moment, not taking in what he was really saying, but taking in him. There was no guaranteed way of knowing his occupation or backstory without more words, and Ben seemed less than keen to actually entertain small talk. So much for the talking to distract myself plan. Viviana tried to pay more attention to the instructions Ben was giving, but as his next line of orders came sinking in she reacted rather poorly. One could argue she was still in a state of shock from the crash, if they were wanting to be generous. All that was able to filter through was his command that she attempt to leave her boot behind. Suddenly she wasn't so sure she wanted his help. The boots were a gift from her mother for the very trip that landed her here. If she couldn't have anything else other than memories of her mom, she at least wanted the woman's last parting gift to stay with her. Eyes wide in disbelief, she spluttered at him. "Slip out of my...boot? Do you have any idea how expensive-"Viviana's words died out as she caught sight of Ben staring at her. Was it something she'd said? But rather than continue to explode incredulously, Vivi clapped her mouth shut and strained to listen better. A boot was not worth her life; not even if it had been given to her by the Pope. Nodding once to show she understood, Vivi braced herself. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she hoped he'd be able to possibly retrieve her other boot. lights will guide you home TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ Delusional & SP
