Attie was busy. As always, the young female couldn’t sit still long enough to actually form a plan, so she decided to go about life as normally as possible. She began to stretch out her muscles. They were still sore from the crash, but aside from a few bruises and minor cuts she was pretty well off. Much better off than most at the very least. She had managed to dig a hair tie out of a purse that she had found, and after saying a little thank you to the original owner, used it to tie up her blond locks. She was dirty. Every inch of her body was covered in liquid which allowed sand and dirt to stick to her. Her normally peachy colored skin was at least 3 shades darker.
She had to leave the group, only for a little bit. A split second urge told her to run away, but she knew that there were people on the beach who would need her. There were young, and old, and wounded. Although she was a little frustrated with the demonstrated leadership style. A couple of men had taken charge – it was almost like a pissing contest to see who could be the most macho, at least that’s how it seemed inside of Attie’s mind. The outspoken almost always rose to the plate first. She wasn’t sure of their plan, or how they felt about her. Hell, they probably didn’t even realize she was there. What a selfish though to think that she had stood out in a crowd of others requiring more attention than she.
She watched as the waves came closer to the shore with each tide, and then again as they were called back out to sea. It was a beautiful pattern and she tried her hardest to appreciate it. Maybe there was a reason for all of this – maybe it was part of some master plan. She tried to convince herself that it was true, but never before had she witnessed that kind of tragedy. That type of lost life. It was different. It was hard to believe that this was all for a purpose when you found the dead body of your seat mate. They would have to come up with some type of purification system. A way to get rid of their dead that didn’t include throwing them into the water. Something respectful.
She trolled the coat, letting the water lick at her feet as she sank a little bit into the wet sand. If you closed your eyes and acted as though nothing had happened it was almost like a vacation to the ocean. She and her family had taken many a trip to California to stay in their ocean front time share. It was one of her favorite child-hood memories. She didn’t even realize that a tear had escaped and was making its way down her cheek. Because try as she might – This wasn’t a vacation. This wasn’t California. And Attie had never been more frightened. ...the rain falls. tags: @open word Count: 506 Notes: None

NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
Nix stood in the water of the bay with it lapping around her feet, her shoes now tied together and hanging over a stick in the ground. She had found one while she had been out exploring and noted it had a little stick growing from it, so she was using it as a hanging item until she could find something useful to make in to a blade. Sure, she could head back to the crash site but she expected to find many a dead body and few on the knives there and she didnt really want either, she could make rope from some of the vines here or maybe an old shirt or something and then she just needed some flint.
And so here she was, leaning over in the water and trying to see rocks. Some of them she saw and knew well, chalk but she doubted it would have much of a use here but she still leaned over to take a little bit. If worst came to worse, should someone need it for food poison or to rest a stomach, she had some. Though it was then she heard a sound and she turned, was someone coming for her stuff? She looked around and noticed someone else standing up the water line a little with their eyes closed. How focused has she been, well she had missed a couple of fish being so focused on rocks so maybe she had missed seeing this new person. | |

Attie hadn't bothered to open her eyes. As far as she was concerned all she would see when she did was the same damn ocean, and quite honestly, she was a little sick of seeing that ocean. Actually, Attie was convinced that when she got off of this island she would move even further inland. Illinois wasn't quite far enough from the Ocean... on second thought, there might not be a place on earth far enough away.
She let her thoughts wander, to home, to Cali, to work... anywhere but here. She was never able to fully remove herself though, not with the waves crashing against the shore as they did. Attie let out a long breath and slowely let her eyes peek open. Sometimes you just had to face reality, even if it was like waking up in a nightmare.
To her surprise, when her eyes were fully opened, she realized that she wasn't alone. There was another figure standing in the tide, she looked to be buss, doing just what Attie couldn't be sure. She offered the new person a gentle wave and then began walking towards her. Perhaps she didn't want company - but then again, maybe she did and didn't even know it. Attie appraoched, allowing her wide smile to take over her face, golden locks falling into her face Hey there! she greeted, her hands swayed softly at her sides. You need any help?

NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
It seemed the figure either wasnt all there or just didnt want to be, she stood there for a little longer and nix rolled her eyes and bent back over t continue her search. Once more a small fish dart past her feet and she cursed softly, she really needed to focus a bit more! She leaned over and shifted her hand through the water, thankfully it was still warm enough that this didnt make her shiver but hearing a sound near her did. she jumped up and looked around as she noted the splashing was the other girl, waving and coming closer to her. Nix couldnt help it, her eyes narrowed and she watched without a word as the female came closer before she spoke.
Tilting her head, the bandage upon in tightening at the angle she moved it to, nix nodded slowly. "This is an island so there has to be flint in the water" she said simply, her logic was deeply flawed of course as she was sure flint only ended up in certain places in the world but that didnt matter right now. If she thought negatively, she would end up in a ball of tears and that would be no good. "Makes fire starters, weapons and tools. Methinks we need it" she said, looking back to the water as something long and sliver moved to the edge of her vision before swimming away from her. "and fishing....." she growled softly, annoying these fish were here and she could do nothing to catch them.
