The sun was gorgeous this morning, the floating orange on the edge of the horizon shining its precious rays across the waves. The waters were quietly licking the beach, the gulls even quiet in this time of sunrise. The sand was still cool from the long night and moon's caress, and the trees were blowing in the lightest of wind across the island. Today would develop into an absolutely phenomenal day.
For everyone except for Lori.
She clutched her stomach, leaned precariously against a tree, and emptied what little there was in her stomach. She heaved, acid clinging to her esophagus in an attempt to remain inside. Tears fell from her eyes, not because she was crying due to throwing up, but just from how violently the vomiting was wracking her body. One moment she had been walking the edge of the jungle, and the next she had the most terrible wave of nausea hit her.
Head screaming in agitation, Lori doubled over again and threw up once more. She was sure there was nothing left in her fragile stomach, but she just continued heaving and heaving. "What the fuck did I eat?" she grumbled to herself, wiping her mouth and then her forehead to remove the sweat. She stayed doubled over, eyes closed tightly as she fought against another wave hitting her frail body.

Choose to Chance the Rapids And Dare to Dance the Tides
Stunning It had taken Hadley the matter of seconds to come up with the word to describe today's sunrise. It was, perhaps, the most beautiful she had seen. While she missed her mountains something fierce, she found herself falling in love with the gentle ocean waves a little more every day. Home Was another word that she was becoming more familiar with - and she couldn't decipher anymore if home was the ranch thousands of miles away, or the sand that sifted now below her feet.
There didn't appear to be many people around, a few had disappeared earlier into the jungle, or retreated back into their cave - Hadley refused to live that way.
Like a Neanderthal.
As she scoped the beach she saw another form, and it took her a moment to size up the situation. She watched as the other buckled over, expelling the contents of her stomach. Hadley cringed for her - a short wave of sympathy nausea threatening her own breakfast.
Hadley couldn't let go of the small bit of food that she had - in all honesty, she needed the calories. So she swallowed hard and then took up a jog towards the vomiting female. She looked miserable. The mutter of a cuss word fell from her lips and hit the sand. Hey! Hadley's vocals were slightly winded as she approached You ok? She tossed her backpack to the ground and reached into it for a hair tie and her water bottle.
She shifted again so her offering was made clear towards the female Here, maybe these will help She gently moved her sandaled foot to cover the vomit with sand - she couldn't look at it any longer.

The pain was intense, but soon the burning in her stomach slowly ebbed away into the dull nausea that sloshed around in her now empty stomach. She had hoped that this early in the morning no one would be out. She had snuck from the caves, not sure how Zach would feel about her venturing out in the wee morning hours. He and her had been in their little clubhouse for a long time now, but she still felt small twinges of his protectiveness.
She was wrong about no one being on the beach when a concerned voice came up close to her. She didn't open her eyes to see who it was that came to her rescue, not wanting to know who saw her in this terrible, and frankly, gross situation. "Yeah, I'm fine," she hissed, hating that she was being witnessed by another person in her weakness. She had started to get better. She had been doing much better around camp and even in her drunken stupor had been a team player. But now she was sick...For no god-damn reason.
She did look at her when she offered something to help. At this moment she'd take anything. "Thanks," she mumbled, grabbing the hair tie and tying her long tresses into a high pony tail. She unbent herself, immediately clutching her stomach with a grimace on her face. Moving her head sent another wave of nausea through her. She took the water bottle and gave a half-assed smile as thanks before waterfalling some water into her mouth. What she would kill for mouthwash right now. She could probably steal Zach's toothbrush and toothpaste when she got back to the cave, but for now, water would have to be enough.
"Sorry you had to see this," Lori groaned, embarrassed in this moment. "I'm just not feeling good this morning," she said softly, rubbing her temples to try and escape from the headache that accompanied her nausea. "Please forget about this," she said, attempting another smile as she handing the water bottle off to her. She was sweating, the warm sunrise already heating up the island to its usual oven-like atmosphere.

Well, not exactly how she had anticipated spending this beautiful morning. Then again, beautiful things were always fleeting. Hadley sighed as the sunrise morphed into a blue sky more quickly that one would have imagined possible. Had she not been Hadley she may have been offended by the initially rude tone that slithered from the others mouth, but, she was Hadley; and as such, she hardly noticed.
Oh, good! For a second there I thought you might have been sick or something Hadley joked, as the female reached to take the hair tie. The little elastics were proving to be more useful than one might expect. Hadley leaned against a tree, the bark rough against her sunburnt skin.
The thought of a contagious disease was the last thing on her mind. After all, Hadley was a caretaker. It was in her nature to want to help out wherever she could, even if it meant not thinking about her own well being.
The water bottle was lifted from her hands and Hadley returned the smile. She recognized the woman as someone from the group. She hadn't seen her for a few days, but she hung out with Zach, whom Hadley tried very hard to avoid. She was an easily intimated
Hadley finished covering up the vomit while the other moved her attention to her temples. Hadley herself had a rule. There are two things nobody should ever see you doing. The first is vomiting. The second is crying. In her lifetime she had only ever broken them a handful of times.
Well, clearly Hadley thought as Lori explained that she was feeling ill. Yeah, no, consider it forgotten. Hadley tried to put herself into the others shoes - what would she want to hear if the situation was reversed? She struggled to find the words I'm Hadley, I've seen you on the beach She began - her voice soft and upbeat Can I get you anything? Or maybe walk you back to the caves? Maybe you should just take it easy today

Lori's irritation only increased as the time continued on. Her stomach was still sloshing around, begging to be emptied again. "Oh god," she groaned, turning away from the girl and bending back over. She heaved, but nothing came out. She felt the tears pinch her closed eyes, but she didn't care in this moment. She was immensely thankful for the hair tie that she had just been given, because at least in this moment, she could feel the breeze touching the beads of sweat on the back of her neck. She clamped her mouth shut, holding herself up against the bark of one tree.
Lori caught the joke, but it wasn't really funny to her in this moment. "Sorry, but my humor has taken a quick escape," she muttered, tone obviously sour as she finally turned back to the girl, a grimace still etched into her face. She tried to remove the bitchiness from her face, but it was incredibly difficult as she felt the left over nausea. The sunshine was no longer beautiful to her as she blamed the day for her shitty disposition.
"Lori," she answered back, turning and picking up the little bag that she had found earlier and had adopted as her knapsack. Inside had reseted her own things: a shard of metal she had been using as a knife, a coconut that she had been snacking on, and a few miscellaneous items that she had kept. "I don't really need a babysitter," she said finally, wishing to roll her eyes. She sighed and tried to pull herself together. "I don't really want to go back to the caves if this keeps happening," she explained, running her hands over her hair to smooth down the fly aways from her ponytail.
Lori felt terrible, and it was definitely rubbing off on how she was treating this woman. But, pulling herself together she tried to recompose herself. She didn't need more people to hate on this slowly shrinking island. "Sorry-" she began turning back to the woman who had been kind enough to offer help. "I'm being a bitch," she continued, rubbing her irritated eyes. "Why don't we go look for some food?" she asked, attempting to salvage the situation.
