NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
Her head was swimming, her eyes were blurry and she could feel her plush in her fore head. She lifted her head weakly only to sigh softly, "god damn" she growled as she pushed her hands in to the ground, pushing herself to sit up before she lifted a palm to her head. Dark blood came away as she touched her head, new warm blood moving down her cheek as she leaned over and reached for her back pack.
When they had landed, she had awoken with her head beside a chair and a very large cut on her head. Her arms had been very badly bruised and she had a hard time moving for a few days until they healed but this damn cut on her head rushed to heal up. She thought it was down to the heat, it didnt have time to clot and to heal since she was always up and trying to do things but she was getting highly sick of it. Her hand reached in to her bag, pulling away the ripped shirt she had found when she looked over the crash site and lifted it up. It was clear she had ripped bits away, her head was loosely wrapped with another dirt right now but she needed a new one for the new day.

He was used to blood, but this was obviously different. His eyes were rather listless as he trudged through the sand. He was one of the lucky ones, having no life threatening injuries (that he knew of just yet - the shock hadn't worn off) so once he'd gotten his bearings and analyzed the situation, he'd started taking charge. They were fortunate to have made it on land.
No time to think of any of that, though. This was the here and now and there was looking to be many survivors in need of help. Most of them just sat around like sitting ducks, as if they wanted to bleed to death. But there was so much to be salvaged that he knew would help them in the long run. Currently, he had just made his second trip from the plane to the beach, carrying a load of charred suitcases, and was now walking back to the crash site empty-handed. He felt pretty exhausted and beaten up. There were people here and there, some had barely made it too far from the wreckage, but Zach could see a young man with a head wound who was coaxing some of the more injured to get up on their feet and move. Zachary was glad someone else was doing that work, too. They were beginning to gather together as a big group, closer to the beach, where they took care of each other.
He chuffed as he bent down and shuffled through some of the wreckage. There was a bag of peanuts that looked surprisingly untouched. He picked it up and stuffed it in the pocket of his black jeans. People were already starving.
As he stood back up, he caught sight of a girl nearby, who really wasn't looking too good. She looked like a doll, with the fire of hair atop her head and the soft features. He stood for a moment just to watch her. She was still bleeding even though plenty of time had passed for a wound to start coagulating. The shirt she was using didn't appear to be hers, and he wondered just how sanitary it was. There were going to be many infections that took out the stragglers in the coming week. Looking at this girl and picturing her as the next one made him rather sullen. He approached her.
"Hey," he greeted politely as he walked closer. He stopped just a short distance away, looking down at her where she sat. His dark hair made him look a fright, billowed by wind and covered in sand. He crouched down to get a closer look at her, a serious frown on his face.
"Head wounds always bleed the most. Just keep up the pressure like you're doing and hopefully you'll make it another night," he said, leaving it at that. "I'm Zach. You?"

NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
Nix tugged on the clean sleeve in her hand, pulling away a line of cloth about the size of her arm before she pulled it around the side of her head. Her teeth clashed hard in her mouth as she felt the pain shot through herself but she could hold it, she fought back the sound and pulled the band tight around her head as she pulled on the old one and slipped it under the new one. Though now she heard a sound and her head turned to note a male before her, her eyes moved over him like a wolf looking over its prey. He was darker than her, which didnt mean much as she was both English and ginger. He was older than her, again not saying much as she was still in her teen but there was something about him. Maybe his tone, something about him seemed different to the males she had come to know but her words were faster than her brain, "Im not stupid, i know how to deal with an impact wound" she snapped. Her eyes flared as she spoke, but they were more curious to see how he would take her verbal lashing as she managed to control herself moment later and held back her other comments. She wondered for a moment why he was here, her mind telling her he was most likely here to find things from the old lives now taken from them. Though it had crossed her mind, to find metal in the chairs and broken hull and make it in to knives or something useful. Maybe find more cloth and make something of a covering for a tent but she doubted there was much to use, though it might be a time to begin looking before everyone started reaching and taking items for themselves

She was a lot more alert than he'd anticipated and he frankly was glad for it. It hopefully meant that she'd be just fine. He'd studied the range of emotions on her face, or at least he tried to. She gave off the immediate air of someone extremely independent. Her lashing out to him said enough of it.
He was not at all perturbed by her outburst. He suspected, if he was actually approaching most people like the other guy was doing, he'd be getting a lot of different kinds of weird reactions. This was an absolute crazy situation and there was bound to be a wild ride ahead. By now, it had to be sinking in to everyone that they may all starve to death here. Panic was setting in for them all, Zach included in his own ways. Perhaps fear just disappeared for him and manifested more into take-charge action.
"People always get stupid when they're scared shitless," was his calm but curt response. She seemed not to regret her words, but he guessed she was probably filtering. Hm, she'd probably be either a keeper or a trouble-maker. "Are you telling me that you're not terrified? Bullcrap. You're no Goddess, honey."
He reached into an inside pocket of his black windbreaker and pulled out a little clear vial of liquid. It was straight vodka. He stared at it for just a second, frowning. He was planning on saving this one for himself.
"Dammit," he mumbled, screwing the cap open. Without asking for her permission, he reached over and dumped the contents on the cloth she was holding, swift as lightening in case she pulled away and it was wasted.
"Since you know so much about dressing wounds, I guess you know you should disinfect it. Gonna hurt like hell, though. Should I hold your hand?"
He smirked at her.

NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
Ok, so this was not going to end well. The male seemed to take her out burst well, passing her first test. He clearly had a backbone which one was going to need right now but the next reply slid him much further in to the category of people she disliked. "Crashed landed on an island, i aint cheery about it but i been through....", she paused as she spoke before she shivered for a moment. Her eyes darted to her arm where she noted her shirt was ripped enough to display the two long scars and she frowned, she normally had shirts that covered them until she felt settled enough but she didnt like this.
Her eyes shifted back up in time to note the male moving towards her, her hand shot up to strike him before she felt the liquid over her head and gave a soft hiss at the pain. "Its a shirt, out of some case somewhere, aint got no buggies on it" she complained through gritted teeth as she lifted her hand to pulled the newly soaked temporary bandage to her head. She wasnt scared really, she hadnt had time to let that sink in. She had been too busy trying to get herself out of the way of anything sharp or that could fall and her mind was moving quickly on to food and water, being scared came once you could afford it and she was sure it would set in once she had the things she knew she needed but right now, being told she should be, was really annoying her. She did wonder for a moment why this male was taking charge, going through the wreck to find other like them and offering his name and aid. That was a question for later, she knew she should return her own name but she was a little too angry right now to be nice.

She was violent after all, feeling the slap of her hand on his shoulder simultaneously as he'd reached over. It didn't bother him per se, but now he was a little irritated, too. Just a little bit. He couldn't help but think of how feral she looked right about now, with her exposed scars and the angry expression on her pretty face. Most people would, he would think, be relieved to have someone reaching out to help them. She obviously wasn't like the others. He was okay with that.
"Yeah, yeah, you say that now but it could've been Fat Albert's sweaty gym shirt for all you know," was his reply to her all-knowing insistence.
Zach looked at her head but not her face for a few long moments, inwardly deciding if he was going to move on to the next task now, or try to coax her toward the others. As his mind whirred with thoughts, his index and thimb twirled around each other.
"Alright, all things aside, I hope we will be friends. From the looks of things we are going to be seeing a lot of each other." He gestured with one hand to the jungles around them.
"We are getting everyone rounded up at the beach of you want to be there with them. Or, you can help me. I'm scavenging as many supplies as I can, now. Or, I suppose there's a third option. Sit here and die. I'd rather you didn't. Since you claim to know so much about dressing wounds, you could use your talents on others."
With a smile that wasn't meant for friendliness, he lifted his arm and showed a nasty cut that stretched from the palm of his wrist down almost to the elbow. It clearly could've been a lot worse if it had been deeper, but it was a pretty shallow gash. Still looked angry as hell.
"As much as we hurt from these tiny cuts, we are actually the lucky ones... Did you have any family with you?"

NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
He had a point, and that annoyed her! She had found the shift just hanging nearby where she had crashed, taking it seemed easy enough and she had just thought people packed clean clothes in cases and this was from one but he did say what she had been trying not to think. He spoke again and she rolled her eyes, she didnt need freinds. Well, they were in some unknown place and she had no idea what to use to get on well in this place. The forests of england and the few of america she was used to were very different to all this, though she felt better within trees than around people and that she knew well. His comments annoyed her, though she noted the cut on himself and wondered why he had not used his items for his own wounds. He even said it stung, so why help her. That did make her pause. She had suffered a lot in her life, she hated to see others suffer and she wanted to help those who did and here this male was doing all that for her. She blinked in shock at herself, swallowing nothing before pushing her hands in to the ground and standing up. "My family tried to beat and starve me in to non-existence, i see em here, i leave em" she muttered in a soft tone, hoping he didnt hear once she spoke it. She didnt want people here to know who she was, she was just another person right now trying to live. "There's got to be more to find here, better to have supplies for a big group and move forwards than make a group and sit around. May as well work as a pair for now" she said off hand, her eyes moving around her as she straightened up and pulled her back pack higher on her shoulders Clannibal

The nameless girl's answer to his solemn question made him sad, for real. He almost didn't catch it as she said it so softly. It was a shock to suddenly hear the change of attitude. Apparently he'd said all the right things. Well, nothing unusual there. He was known to be persuasive.
He nodded his head as though to give her a sign of respect. That was not something he'd personally gone through. How could parents beat and starve their daughter?
"Well then, it should've been them on that plane. Not you, " was all he offered on that subject. No use babying her now. Of course that wasn't really his style anyway.
He was glad to see her now willing to join his expedition. He looked at her closely after shed lifted herself off the ground. She seemed just fine. He started to regret wasting his alcohol. He suddenly felt like he needed a drink.
"That's more like it. I'm going to bring the rest of all the scattered supplies towards the beach. Then we need to find fresh water," he said, lifting a hand to scratch at the back of his head. "I don't suppose you've explored anywhere yet?"

NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
Nix felt her head flick around, damn. He had heard her, she always made these snippy comments in her own company so stopping it when around others was something it seemed she had yet to learn. "It was long enough ago" she said, trying to sweep the subject under them and move on to the next topic as fast as she could. She disliked the topic deeply, but it had led her to her outsiders life and her wild life and she was partly thankful for that.
He spoke again and she took her chance to move on, shaking her head before glancing around. "Oddly enough i keep passing out, i think its the blood loss and heat. My water bottle didnt last long shockingly, stupid minimum amount rules" she said lifting the empty bottle from her side before she glanced around and then sighed. Right, water first and then fire. Then shelter and then freak out about how life had changed and was all very different, she took a deep breath and started moving forwards before glancing back to the other male. "Names Nix, i should offer than up" she said, a weak smirk falling on to her face now

Nix, as he just learned was her name, was opening up more as they discussed the morbid matters at hand. It felt surprisingly good, actually, to have someone join up with him. Of course, the thought came and went rather quickly after she revealed that she's not been in the greatest conscious state. Passing out was kind of serious. The water and food situation may be more urgently dire now that he was looking at one of the injured in the eyes. No food or water and she and the rest of them would die within a couple days after all the blood loss.
And yeah, it really was scorchingly hot. He never did like the heat. It made him quite irritable. These dark jeans were a bad choice but he discarded his jacket a while ago. It was around here somewhere.
Without an immediate response, Zach, with a frown, reached into the pocket of his pants where he had just put the peanuts he'd found minutes ago. Pulling them out, he opened the packaging and plucked greedily at a peanut. He savored the taste of the salt on it and his eyes closed briefly to embellish the feeling.
Perhaps not the best food to eat before finding water, but the luxury of choice was not theirs. As he chewed he looked Nix in the eyes again and reached the bag out to her.
"These will help. Maybe we should look for water before we do anything else. And that's a weird name, Nix. I like it. Is it an English thing?"
He smiled to add some lightness to his teasing. Meanwhile his arm throbbed and it took away from his enjoyment of the moment.
"I have no idea what's going to happen from here. But I'm going to make sure we live, whatever it takes," he said suddenly, with a serious intensity. He then grabbed at his shirt collar to quickly wipe the dripping sweat from his forehead. "Some people get crazy in a catastrophe like this. They'll kill you if it means they will live. Stick with me and that won't happen, Nixxy."

NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
Nix watched as the male dipped a hand in to his pocket, her moving forward a little and looking up. She could see a row of seat before her, the overhead luggage compartments over them still and the side of the plane ripped open. She was tempted to pull them open but she also expected that they were broken and had long since lost whatever had been put within them. She glanced up as he spoke again, noting the offered food and smirking a little. "High salt and fat content, at least we have peanuts" she said softly, sarcasm heavy in her tone as she reached and took one. She didnt want more, well of course she did but he should be looking out for himself and not her. "I had another name, i was planned to be a pretty flower girlie but i was born wrong. So i was named after the goddness of night, my mother had a bit of a thing for greeks" she said, her eyes a little dark as she spoke about her family but she put it behind her quicker this time.
He spoke again and she raised an eyebrow, knowing what he said was correct but unsure if she wanted to be allied so quickly. She knew her way around this sort of thing, she had learned how to set up a camp and get food and so forth but it was the people she was at a loss with. Maybe it would help, if he could get people on side and away from the killing part of things then it would be helpful. "I'll be happy to hit em right back, though might not be the best system" she admitted, ignoring the nicname she seemed to have picked up

He plucked another peanut, nibbling quietly, listening to her speak. She reminded him a little of himself in the manner that she spoke. She was far more emotionally injured than he was, though. He'd already figured that out. Zach could unpredictable at times but he was stable. Stil, sarcasm was a delicious taste on his tongue.
"Puh," he scoffed at one of her remarks about her birth. It must be her parents had driven such crazy thoughts into her head. What shitty people. "Born wrong..no such thing. Raised wrong, more like it.". He left it at that. Nix was a keeper, he decided. He was already admiring how strong she was acting. Even if she had some sort of panic going on inside of her, he couldn't see it. She would be one of the ones to survive.
He started to make his way away from there, in no particular hurry. Best not to use up a lot of energy all at once. As he turned his back on her, he answered her next bits of dialogue with cold ease.
"Hell yeah it is. If someone puts their hands on you, give it it right back!". Crunch, as he ate another peanut. He was headed towards the trees. Sundown would be in an hour or two. They had to start moving if things were going to get done. He was not confident that fresh water would be here, readily available, but he had seen a heavy concentration of birds flocking towards an area just a short distance away. Maybe a mile. There was something valuable to be found in that direction. Heck, if they were just feasting on worms, he'd go for it.
He turned on his heels to walk backwards so he could see if Nix was going to follow him. "There may people who try to steal all the supplies I brought back to shore. Even just to pig out on food all at once. What should we do if that happens?"
He asked the question genuinely, as he had already been thinking about that with paranoia himself. He was interested in Nix's point of view. "More peanuts?" he offered, handing the bag back to her again.

NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
Nix actually laughed as the male spoke, her own words repeated and she sighed softly. "Where were you when i was an infant" she joked, her eyes trying to their hardest to be playful as she rolled them. She moved forwards to the chairs she had noted and moved her hands over them, no blood here or anything she was worried to see so she assumed this was a part of the plane left empty. She flicked her arm up, catching the locker above her only for them to fall down and slip past her side and she shook her head. Nothing. She rolled her eyes, knowing she could rip the fabric from the seats to make them to cloth for something or take the foam for fire starters but it was getting colder which mean the night couldnt be far off.
Zach spoke again, the red head turning to note he had moved away from her and she tilted her head a little. His comment was a valid one, though her answer was an honest one. "No matter who were are or how many we are, i say give everyone one chance. You screw up, you get warned, you trip again, you get ended" she said, her eyes dark as she spoke. They couldnt afford people to be selfish, people to be scared and to act on a whim. She knew her time for being a crybaby and to curl up upset was coming, the pit in her chest told her that but she pushed it down inside herself again as she started after the male. She didnt know where he was headed but there seemed to be something smart in his head, head to the beach to check on supplies or head out to find water were the two thoughts in her head. She didnt know where to even begin on that second one, so maybe the first was the better option for now

Wow, laughter. It was such an odd thing to hear in a time like this. He couldn't help but smile after that. It felt good to be happy now, no matter how soon it was going to disappear. It helped with the pain ever so much, too.
"Well, I'm guessing when you were an infant, I was already learning how to shoot a gun. What are you, sixteen?" he asked, watching as she was traipsing through some of the wreckage. He walked slower, instinctively waiting. Her search could be just as productive. If this water trip failed, their only hope would be the bottles leftover from the crashed inventory. And, perhaps, they could use those to collect rain. Unfortunately, though, it appeared her quick run over of the place proved fruitless.
He didn't really comment on her reply to his pointed question. He found it mostly agreeable, from a general standpoint, but inside he would probably be more unforgiving than that. If you were selfish enough to screw everyone over for yourself, you deserved to be judged then and there. Sometimes, second chances did not sit well with Zach. In his opinion, once a scumbag, always so. Still, he was happy with her answer and took careful note to remember it. He wondered with rather socially inappropriate curiosity if she'd have what it took to kill someone.
He had already turned back around, meanwhile almost running into a tree that had crossed paths with their route. He swiftly skirted out of the way with a loud "woo" and a chuckle afterwards. "Death by tree," he commented jokingly. The underbrush of the jungle had drastically increased and suddenly he was having to dodge plants and make his way through thick bushes. It was creating quite the ruckus, despite his trying to be quiet. He didn't know what was out there but he didn't want to take his time completely.
He was going to complain about the growing intensity of the jungle when, suddenly, his foot seem to catch something under the bushes, making him stumble over and fall to the ground. He quickly pulled himself up to a sitting position but was looking back at the trail in horror. He had tripped on a dead body. A passenger.

NIX NIGHT Shadow of the Night
Nix turned and started through the last of the metal, kicking out at where she had woken up before she heard something hollow. She paused and looked down, trying to remember why she had picked this spot to rest in before she saw it. The sand was blurry. She chuckled softly and bent over, her head feeling most heavy as she bent down before her hand wrapped around bag. " Now that could be handy" she said, nothing a few hand gels or something scented and a few used bottles she assumed had something in them before the plane took off. They were tiny things, but might be useful. She glanced up and felt her head pound as she heard the elder male speak again, her eyes rolling at his words. "I know im slim but really? I always got told i'd look younger if not for the over developed arms" she said with a roll of her eyes as she pushed her hands in to her knees and forced herself to standing again. "19, in case you were wondering" she said, starting to move after the male as she noted the tree before him. Part of her hoped he walked in to it, just to laugh, but he moved around and still joked backwards which did make her smile. She rolled her eyes and glanced back before a thump made her jump, her head was hurting she still lifted her hands and moved forwards quickly only to see the male sitting on the floor. "what th..." she started before she noted the pale leg sticking out from one of the bushes, her stomach swooped as she looked down at it but her brain took over. She reached out her hand, the one free of her new discovery, and turned her head away. "Looking and wondering wont make things better" she said, her voice tight as she tried to keep control of her emtional side that wanted very much to turn and run right now
